We have had a great start to the New Year in the Forest. Classes accessing Forest this half term enjoyed a snowy cold start. Pupils enjoyed sledging and an icy mud kitchen. We thought about wishes for the New Year with classes adding their wishes to the wishing tree, these included happiness, rainbows and more snow! While some groups enjoyed ice painting with cool colours others worked well carving out apples to make apple wishing candles which we then lit. This week classes have thought about the birds that visit the forest. We made a variety of bird feeders using apples, cranberries, bread, seed and pine cones. We added these to our old Christmas tree which we have turned into a bird feeding station. 3C then used the Merlin bird app to record which birds visited. We also set up the nature camera to record any visiting birds. We can’t wait to see which birds visit. 2D also managed to find time to create nature pictures inspired by the artists Njideka Akunyili Crosby & Clare Celeste Borsch. They looked wonderful.
