Home School Liaison

At The Pines School we value the essential role parents and carers play in their child’s education and understand that at one time or another, some families may need additional support.

Rebecca, Louise, and Shemina are here to listen and offer suggestions and advice on a variety of areas, such as behaviour management, secondary transition, filling out forms, providing support, and attending any meetings or appointments. We can signpost you to other specialist services in your local area. If you need to talk or have any concerns or worries about your child, please speak to us.

Supporting the individual needs of pupils sometimes involves working with external agencies. In these situations, we ensure that a confidential, professional, non-judgemental, and sensitive service is provided.

Coffee Mornings

All parents are welcome to join our monthly Coffee Morning. There will be a different focus or activity each month with special guests from local services. These can include ways to help support your child’s learning at school, parenting advice, transition support, and information about a wide range of things from mental health services to online safety and much more.

Most importantly, Coffee Mornings are a great way to get to know other parents, share experiences, learn new skills, and relax. We provide free tea, coffee, and sweat treats for all parents who attend. There is lots of time to ask questions and find out what is happening in school. Parents, carers, and family members are all welcome.

So, why not spare a little time and come along to our Coffee Mornings – you can make a real difference in your child’s life. We would love you to get involved and know that it is empowering to meet other families you may have experienced something similar with their child.

The dates of the Coffee Mornings will be posted in our regular school newsletters and on the school website.

Home Visits

As part of our admissions process and in line with our personalised approach, we visit families in their own home. Home visits aim to ease the transition for your child between their previous educational setting and us here at The Pines. They also allow us to gain a holistic view of the child’s needs and how we as a school can best support them.

It is also an opportunity to introduce the family to key members of staff at our school. In doing so we can begin to promote a positive and supportive partnership between home and school. This can have a significant positive effect on how your child values themselves and those around them.
